The philosophical foundations for my book “Shaping Lives, Transforming Communities: Creative Expression in the Dance of Life” lie in the interactions among the sources of all development: playing, making, and knowing. One of the most unfortunate developments in education has been the loss of a sense of play and exploration and the reduction of play to sports.

Across the world there is a growing movement focusing on the importance of play in the development of children. There are university departments doing research and organizations working to return play to its central role in human development. There are artists working to make creative places for children and adults to flourish.

Today’s post is a wonderful link to NPR’s Goats and Soda, one of my favorite sources for good ideas and happenings. Enjoy the wonderful images here.
