Museums in the 21st century are expanding their missions far beyond their origins; the range of programs and possibilities for the public, including those with disabilities both physical and mental, would astonish many of their founders. Part of this is practical–to survive they need to change–but there is also a recognition of the possibilities the arts offer to people of all ages and abilities.
