Medicine must be a continual process of learning not a list of older understandings that are no longer appropriate. This is very difficult for even the most open-minded of physicians and medical organizations to accept. Today’s post shares the difficulties faced by a group of specialists in the armed forces when they had to find ways to transform the “old learnings” about brain injuries in battle to the new understandings emerging from advances in science and technology.
