The Boston Globe now has a special unit called STAT that follows developments in medicine. This essay by Melissa Bailey in the Longwood Pulse series is an excellent introduction to the integration of music therapy into medicine at children’s hospitals. This is a development that Create & Be Well has been following for the last several years. Music therapy actually took root in medicine after World War II and is part of the larger movement of integrating the arts into medical practice.
