            I know those of us in education do not set out to make it difficult for people to understand important aspects of learning such as “developmentally appropriate practice,” but the jargon gets in the way of communication. The phrase “developmentally appropriate practice” is shorthand for basing learning on what we know about how children develop. This is an area constantly in flux because science itself is a continuing journey of enlightenment. Today’s post by Amanda Morgan is the best and clearest description of what we mean by “developmentally appropriate practice” in language accessible to all. Thanks, Amanda!
