          We are gradually acquiring a rich base of research and information on the power of the arts, especially music, to foster our total development. Today’s post looks at a particularly important aspect of the arts–the ability to improvise. Improvisation, whether in music, in theater, or in general problem-solving, is only possible after we have attained a certain level of mastery of the tools required for it. Today’s post introduces the “Sound Health: Music & the Mind,” a new partnership between the Kennedy Center in DC and the National Institutes of Health.
