Dance Base’s Prime and the Scottish Ballet Elders Company offer unusual opportunities for older people not just to dance but to perform professionally as well. Both organizations support strong programs for people in their 60s and older; the fall 2015 tour of the dancers was a huge success. Enjoy!

     The arts played critical roles in the survival of people in the WWII German concentration camps. In earlier posts I have shared stories about musicians and the ways in which music essentially saved their lives. Today’s post tells the inspiring story of a former prisoner who found the way to creative aging through dancing.

     This story from The Times of Jerusalem features Eva Fahidi, a 90-year-old Hungarian holocaust survivor. Her dance performance, Sea Lavender or the Euphoria of Being, brings her story to life through a partnership with a younger dancer. It is a powerful tribute to the healing and transforming powers of the arts.
